Switching from OpenText to SharePoint for Streamlining Access and Cost Optimization
The District of Columbia Water and Sewer Authority (DC Water) provides drinking water, sewage collection, and sewage treatment for Washington, D.C. They also provides wholesale wastewater treatment services to several adjoining municipalities in Maryland and Virginia, and maintain more than 9,000 public fire hydrants in Washington, D.C.
Business Challenge
DC Water was looking to replace their costly legacy OpenText system with a more modern and effective solution.
Vigilant Solution
After an initial assessment, Vigilant implemented SharePoint as the most viable replacement to remove their technical debt. The migration captured and leveraged metadata to improve search capabilities and the filtering and grouping of documents. Microsoft Syntex was also incorporated to optimize metadata with new documents.
Benefits
- Easier user access to appropriate documents.
- Syntex supports automatic retrieval of required data from documents
- Reduce costs and improved user experience/efficiency vs OpenText.
