Challenge
OmniMax International was running Oracle E-Business Suite and Oracle Advanced Supply Chain Planning on R12.2.9 and needed a structured path to R12.2.14 — with the flexibility to move to R12.2.15 instead, should Oracle release it during the project.
The upgrade needed to do more than move a version number. OmniMax’s existing CEMLI and APEX customizations had to be preserved and retrofitted without adding new, unplanned customization. At the same time, the warehouse team needed expanded mobile capabilities: more flexible picking options based on additional documents, mobile device enhancements for faster order picking, and more configurable picking, packing, and shipping workflows — all without expanding scope into unrelated new features or a database upgrade (23ai was not yet certified on OmniMax’s AIX platform).
Solution
Vigilant 360 delivered the upgrade as a fixed-price, milestone-based engagement structured around two non-production iterations and one production cutover.
- Upgraded EBS and ASCP from R12.2.9 to R12.2.14, with DBA workstreams covering FMW and upgrade patches, ECC upgrade, CPU patches, and post-upgrade validation.
- Retrofitted CEMLI and APEX customizations to the new version and refreshed the related documentation.
- Enabled expanded warehouse mobile picking, packing, and shipping configurations within the agreed functional scope.
- Ran full application end-to-end testing in DEV and UAT, with OmniMax reviewing, extending test scenarios, and providing sign-off.
- Managed the project through daily stand-ups, weekly status reporting to the OmniMax PMO, and a jointly built detailed project plan.
- Provided post-go-live hypercare to stabilize the environment after the production upgrade.
